My personal feeling is the "autozenith" feature of PL kites makes them one of the easiest and safest kites to use. This is a feature that has meant my kite never hit the water for a relaunch once last summer. You get in trouble, let go of the bar completely and when you look up afterwards it is always up there waiting for you to redirect it. It does not matter where in the window it was when you let go, that is just what they do. What could be safer in the waves? If you get a chance to fly a Venom II, by all means give it a go. They fly a bit different than a "C" or Bow kite and take a bit of getting used to, but people who have them would fight you if you tried to take it away from them. By the way, they have huge lift too!

Yeah, but I wonder what the tradeoffs are in terms of power and where it sits on the window. I'd have to try it to really appreciate this feature more. I snowkited last weekend w/a Crossbow 2, and though I haven't been a big fan of the original Cabrinha Crossbow, this new one was pretty stable as well, plus you could pull the trigger on it and get some serious power.

Self launch, hook in, no hands on the bar, walk to the water, put your board on your feet, grab the bar and go. One of the sweetest parts of this stability is when you f up, just let go of the bar and to goes to zenith. I only got a dozen days in last season (the gorge) and my kite never hit the water!
